Founded in 1963, Starfish Family Services is a nonprofit human service agency dedicated to championing children and families in metro Detroit who face limited access to essential resources like education, healthcare, and economic opportunities. Our holistic approach serves over 4,000 children and their families annually, providing high-quality programs focusing on early childhood education and development, behavioral health wellness and empowered parenting.

Our integrated, high-quality programs emphasize early childhood education, wellness, and empowerment for parents and caregivers. Programs and services offered by Starfish are high-quality, research-based, and evidence-supported. By focusing on the best practices in the field we aim to achieve three key outcomes: healthy families, successful students, and empowered families. Starfish currently operates 18 centers across Wayne County, employing over 450 staff—a dedicated group that includes teachers, social workers, therapists, nurses, psychiatrists, nutritionists and administrators.

WHAT WE DO
EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION
Starfish Family Services operates 15 Early Childhood Centers that are housed in Detroit and Wayne County in Westland, Plymouth and Livonia, serving over 1,400 children annually.
BEHAVIORAL HEALTH SERVICES
Our Behavioral Health Services (BHS) is a comprehensive approach in supporting children, youth, adults and communities. We offer BHS services in 11 school centers, in 3 outpatient clinics located throughout Wayne County, in home-based programs and via telehealth options
